If you are filling out the India Post GDS application form, you must strictly follow the official signature upload guidelines. Your signature needs to be exactly 140x60 px in dimensions, and the file size must be between 10 KB and 20 KB.
Do's for India Post GDS
- • Use a black or dark blue pen on plain white paper.
- • Ensure the lighting is bright and even.
- • Maintain dimensions of exactly 140 x 60 px.
Don'ts

- • Do not exceed the 20 KB limit.
Applying for GDS from Your Phone? Read This First.
Every time India Post releases the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) merit-based vacancies, their servers get completely flooded. I know most of you are probably trying to fill out this form straight from your smartphone to save time.
And honestly, the biggest headache in the entire GDS form is the document upload section.
India Post wants your signature file to be strictly between 10 KB and 20 KB. The problem? A normal photo clicked from today’s smartphones is easily around 2 MB to 5 MB. If you try to upload that raw photo, the GDS portal will just throw a frustrating “File Size Exceeded” error.
Save Your Trip to the Cyber Cafe
I’ve seen so many students rushing to cyber cafes just to get one signature photo resized, paying 50 or 100 rupees for a 2-minute job. You really don’t need to do that anymore.
I specifically set up this India Post GDS Preset so you can fix your image yourself, right from your phone browser.
How to Get the Perfect GDS Signature:
- The Setup: Grab a plain white paper (unruled) and sign your name clearly with a black pen. Try to avoid blue gel pens as they sometimes smudge when scanned.
- Crop the Extra Paper: Upload the picture here. Use the crop tool to cut out all the extra empty space around your handwriting. This is super important! If you don’t crop it, your name will look like a tiny ant on the final form.
- Let the Tool Work: Once you hit apply, our resizer locks the dimensions to 140x60 pixels and drops the file weight safely under 20 KB.
- Clean it up: Did your room lighting make the paper look yellow or grey? Just check the “Auto Clean Background” box. It acts like a digital scanner, making the paper pure white and the ink dark black.
Download the final JPG and upload it directly to your GDS dashboard. Best of luck with your merit list!
